tasting love
surrendering
you take me
I take you
we take
each other
spreading apart
opening wide
curving around
the circle
of motion
and desire
moving tentatively
thrusting deeply
pulling back
to the edge
now deeply
deeply
again
and again
air rising
and falling
panting breath
between kisses
something real
I have to find a place
to say some things I need to say
that people race away from
when the truth gets in the way
hiding out in disappearing acts
of rage, denial and shame
but not before they take a breath
to assess and place the blame
‘you’ve had one too many moments
of actually feeling something real
too bad no one warned you
that real is never the deal
shame on you for pedaling
the wrong kind of pill
how dare you claim
to have actually
felt something real

just wishing (another woman in love)
sitting in her kitchen
on an early winter morning
warming to to her coffee and cigarettes
sleep is not yet shaken, waking up is so unclear
just wishing her dreams could shut out all her fears
another day of laughing through her tears
she wears the gentle scent of love
all through her day
like the knowing wind
blowing the warmth of summer in
she never really says it
you hear it in her sounds

you alone
change is in the wind
deep beneath the surface
where destiny unfolds
the course of a life shifts
from one path to another
a life transformed
a life renewed
those who cannot see
where he is going
will lament and say
he has gone astray
but through the eyes
of his own awakening soul
as new life spills forth
from his dreams
he sees his greatest hope
his greatest joy

I’m beside myself
I don’t know which way to turn
which eye to look from
which hand to hold my head
in weary disgust of all that’s being said
about you, about me, about us, the whole sea
of broken feminine, female, and womanly debris
we’re drowning ourselves and all of humanity
wasting our hearts on the sleeves of our vanity
leading our daughters like lambs to a slaughter
to a life of insanity with no dreams to barter

everlasting
I have come
face to face
with every illusion
that would
silence
my revelations
chastise
my unstrained
behavior
temper
the boldness
of my speech
clip
the wings
of my flights of fancy
imprison
my heart
in caution and restraint
and
I have not been moved
now
with a steady heart
I embrace
one simple truth
you are
my one true love
for all time
in my heart
in my life
and
in my world
you are
love to me
you are
its faith
its hope
its joy
its promise
and
its glory
you are
what heals
what protects
what empowers
what enlivens
my life
to grow
beyond measure
you are
its miracle
its wonder
its gift
of human expression
and
in all that
you are
you are
love
to me
Beyond the World of Dreams
We look at our world with unbelieving eyes, tears rise up from the wellspring of our hearts, moistening our eyes and sliding down our cheeks. We are weeping the blood, feeling the pain and mourning the death of our brothers, our sisters and our children in a land far away. We are brought to our knees by their suffering and their loss, agonizing with guilt and frustration over the invisible stance and the unheard cries of the people of our land, "We don't want this war! We never wanted this war! End this war -- NOW!"
How do we rise up from the tombs of the American dream and breathe life into the souls of our own beings -- we the invisible, we the unheard, we the very backbone upon which the American dream was built? What will it take for us to see that we must move beyond the world of dreams into the light, into the love? We are on the brink of disaster, skirting the very edge of hope, swooning and groping without a safety net below. This war is our enemy and our ally, our downfall and our opportunity, our nightmare and our awakening, our burial and our passage --- beyond the world of dreams.
I am here
what of these roots
planted down
deep and through
the soles
of my feet
should I have tried
to reach
down deep
into the warm
beating heart
of Mother Earth
and deftly
disentangle you
from me
I am here
with roots
deep inside
your heart
healing
your pain
and
facing
your fears
I am here
holding
your hand
to your heart
so that you
can feel
how steady
she beats
for you
I am your woman
we are a part
of each other
you are my lord
and I shall have
no other
I am here
loving you
with my
deepest devotion
so that
you may feel
the power
of your own
self-love
we breathe
one breath
inhale
our love
exhale
our fear
we breathe
one breath
inhale
our fear
exhale
our love
we breathe
one breath
on our knees
as we pray
this haze
I will wait
for the rest of my days
if it takes that long
to clear this haze
of doubt and uncertain moves
of life without tracks
and tracks without shoes
of footprints without a soul
and a soul without a muse
just missteps and stumbles

beloved one
I hurt you
I hurt me
without intention
to desert you
never to desert you
I simply wanted you
to be free
free of me
free to choose me
free to fabricate
your own story
of your love's
true destiny
free to see just maybe
after all was said
and done
it was me
I was your true love, yes
just maybe
I was indeed
the One
free, my love free
no longer bound
by anyone's design
but guided
by the majestic power
of your own soul's destiny
the moment
I set you free
was the moment
I knew
I would devote
my heart
and my soul
to you
for the rest
of eternity
I never left you
my heart
beats for you
my soul
speaks to you
my mind
dreams of you
my body ripens
and blossoms
and hums for you
my love’s passion
so sweetly
it seeps
inside of you
so breathless
so hungry
so wanting
you are
to touch me
to taste me
to move in
circles and circles
inside of me
deeply
shimmering
cascading
falling
your soul
merging into mine
one breath
one heartbeat

manuel carbonell
remember when
there was only love
between us
the innocent bliss
of an eternal embrace
an endless moment of joy
basking in love’s warmth
delighting in love’s kiss?
remember how
we vibrated as one
echoing the sounds
you created
uttering the language
I wove
as we gave birth
to a continuous expression
of love?

I am your woman
now
in oneness
soft and tender
a yielding woman
infused with a
passionate love
to nurture
and sustain you
I am the fullness
in your heart
.
I am your woman
now
in oneness
I surrender
to your
deepest touch
to every deed
and desire
which moves
your heart
in love's expression
I am the vessel
of your joy
.
I am your woman
now
in oneness
patient and serene
a listening woman
entrusted with
your secrets
to unburden
and support you
I am the light
in your darkness
